Milling breaks the nuts down to finer particles in preparation for the next step of extraction. The women use a semi mechanical mill for this process. Due to shortage of financing, most producers use a common mill that is used in processing other products. It is recommended that a dedicated mill be used for Shea Butter production to eliminate contaminants and debris.
